The Skater’s Companion

The long-term direction

A trusted circle around every skater

The Skater’s Companion is intended to become a collaboration of people across the ice-skating industry—making it easier to begin, progress and find the right support, whatever a skater’s goals.

Not one person pretending to have every answer

Skating draws on different kinds of knowledge. A coach sees movement and skill. A fitter sees feet and boot shape. A technician sees blades, wear and setup. A club understands local pathways. Other skaters can share lived experience.

The future Companion should make those perspectives easier to find and easier to combine—without blurring professional boundaries or presenting community opinion as expert assessment.

A small, useful social layer

Connection without public-by-default sharing

This is not intended to become a noisy public feed. It is a mini-social platform built around a skater’s real support circle.

01

Nothing public by default

A personal skating or equipment record should not become visible simply because someone creates an account or joins an organisation.

02

Selected information, not a blank cheque

The aim is to let a skater share the particular record, result or routine that helps with a particular conversation.

03

Access that can be reviewed

Connections and permissions should remain visible to the skater, with the ability to change or withdraw them.
